The 3 NEGATIVE Energies That Really Grind SodakArtist’s Gears

Name your top three pet peeves.

By: SodakArtist

As someone who strives to live in alignment with higher frequencies, there are a few things that can completely disrupt my energy and sense of balance. I’m all about positivity, growth, and genuine human connection, so it’s frustrating when certain behaviors create unnecessary barriers. Let’s dive into the three things that really grind my gears—and why they matter so much to me.

1. Negative Self-Talk and Words That Lower Your Frequency

Words are powerful tools, but too often, people use them to tear themselves down instead of building themselves up. When someone constantly says, “I can’t,” “I’m not good enough,” or worse, insults themselves, it’s like watching them put up walls around their own potential. It’s heartbreaking because these words don’t just reflect a fleeting mood—they reinforce limiting beliefs that keep people stuck.

Our language shapes how we see ourselves and the world around us. When you tell yourself you’re not capable, your subconscious starts to believe it, and you act accordingly. It’s like planting seeds of doubt that grow into full-blown obstacles. What’s worse, this kind of negative energy doesn’t stay contained—it radiates out, pulling down the vibe of the people and spaces around you.

I get it—life isn’t always easy. But there’s a difference between acknowledging struggles and constantly berating yourself. Simple shifts in language can make all the difference. For example, instead of “I can’t,” try “I’m figuring it out.” It doesn’t cost anything to change the way we speak to ourselves, and the rewards—better energy, higher confidence, and a more positive outlook—are priceless.

2. Choosing Stubbornness Over Common Sense

Let’s be real: it’s not ignorance or a lack of knowledge that bothers me. We all have gaps in what we know, and that’s okay. What grinds my gears is when people refuse to use basic common sense or think critically about a situation, even when the solution is right in front of them. It’s frustrating to see unnecessary chaos unfold because someone decided not to put in a little effort or consider a better approach.

Common sense doesn’t require expertise. It’s about being present, aware, and willing to engage with reality. Yet, some people cling to their own flawed ideas out of sheer stubbornness, even when those ideas clearly aren’t working. It’s like watching someone try to jam a square peg into a round hole over and over again, ignoring the perfectly good round peg sitting nearby.

This kind of behavior isn’t just inefficient—it disrupts the flow for everyone else involved. It wastes time, drains energy, and creates friction where there doesn’t need to be any. Life is full of challenges, but when people insist on complicating simple situations, it feels like they’re throwing a wrench into the harmony of progress.

3. Lying: The Ultimate Energy Killer

Lying doesn’t just irritate me—it affects the entire energy of a space. I can sense dishonesty immediately, whether it’s in person or over the phone. It’s not just about catching someone in a lie; it’s about the energetic clash that dishonesty creates. When someone’s words and energy don’t align, it feels like a jarring disruption, like static in an otherwise clear signal.

Beyond the immediate discomfort, lies erode trust, which is the foundation of any meaningful relationship. Without trust, it’s impossible to build authentic connections or move forward together. Lies also breed negativity—suspicion, doubt, and fear—all of which pull people into lower vibrations and block positive energy from flowing.

The saddest part? Lying is completely unnecessary. Honesty may be uncomfortable at times, but it creates space for understanding, healing, and growth. Lies, on the other hand, only build walls and cut us off from the truth. When someone chooses deception, it feels like a deliberate rejection of the harmony we could be creating together.

These three things—negative self-talk, disregarding common sense, and dishonesty—aren’t just minor annoyances to me. They disrupt the balance and energy I work hard to cultivate in my life and relationships. At the end of the day, I want to live in a world where people uplift themselves and each other, where honesty is the norm, and where collaboration flows naturally.

What are some things that grind your gears? How do you handle them? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Let’s keep the conversation—and the energy—flowing!
