Just One Month: The Deal That Saved My Life

What’s a topic or issue about which you’ve changed your mind?

Throughout our lives, we often find ourselves redefining what success and fulfillment truly mean. For many, success is traditionally seen through the lens of achievements—money, career milestones, or societal recognition. But sometimes, life takes us to the brink and forces us to question everything. That was my reality when I found myself at the lowest point, facing a choice that would change everything.

So, what do I believe in now? Some might wonder if I identify with a specific religion. Am I a Christian? No, not even close. A Satanist? Absolutely not. A follower of Hinduism or Buddhism? No and no. The truth is, my path is not tied to any traditional religion. Instead, I follow the 12 laws of the universe—a guiding set of principles that align with my understanding of life, energy, and the greater connections that bind us all. The energy around us—that’s my religion. My focus is on intuition, self-knowledge, and the continuous journey of becoming my highest and truest form. Because, ultimately, I have come to understand that I AM—a declaration of my existence, my power, and my connection to all that is. It’s a journey to live by that simple yet profound truth every day.

But I didn’t always see life this way. I was drowning in depression, suffocated by emotions I had been pushing aside for far too long. There’s a belief that if you ignore your feelings, they’ll just fade away—but they don’t. They fester, corrode, and eventually, they boil over. And that boiling point hit me like a storm, leaving me stranded and desperate. At the time, I was staying in a motel room—my makeshift sanctuary that felt more like a prison. And after a night that brought me closer to the edge than ever before, I finally had to confront myself.

It was the middle of the night when I broke. Standing in front of the mirror, I looked at a stranger—someone with sunken eyes and a soul that felt hollow. And then the self-talk began.

“What are you doing? You’re pathetic. Can’t handle your own emotions, so you shove them away, and this is where you end up. If you want to die so bad, then why not do it? Why are you dragging this out? You’re a coward—too scared to live and too scared to die.”

The words were brutal, and I could feel every sting like a punch to the gut. But the voice didn’t stop.

“Go ahead. Get it over with. I dare you.”

And then, a sliver of resistance broke through—my inner voice fighting back. “Or…what if there’s another way?”

“Another way?” The voice sneered. “Like what? You’ve tried everything. Look where you are—rock bottom. Face it. You have nothing left.”

But the fight inside me wouldn’t back down. “Just one month. One month to figure this out. If I can’t change my mindset in that time…then fine. Go ahead, end it. But what if you could change? What if there was even one reason to stay?”

I remember standing there, staring at myself, feeling raw and exposed. It wasn’t an easy conversation—screaming, whispering, pleading. But eventually, I made a deal with myself: one month. One month to reclaim my life, to search for something—anything—that would give me a reason to stay.

That was the beginning of my journey toward finding my true self. Over that month, I forced myself to confront the dark thoughts I had buried for so long. I began to explore what it meant to be authentic, to embrace the parts of myself I had always hidden. And most importantly, I began to see a deeper connection, a higher power that wasn’t some deity in the sky but an energy that surrounded and moved through everything and everyone. It was as if I had woken up, not just to life, but to an entirely different way of living. I began to see that this energy connects us all, making us one: I am you, and you are me. And through experiences that still give me goosebumps, I have felt that presence, that universal consciousness, that higher power that many of us sense but can’t always define.

If I hadn’t given myself that one month, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be living a life guided by energy and the belief that every single person has the power to change their reality. And I wouldn’t have realized that true success isn’t about external achievements—it’s about inner peace, self-awareness, and authenticity. It’s about living in alignment with your highest self and recognizing that the universe is both within and around you.

So, if you find yourself on the brink, feeling lost or hopeless, I offer you the same deal I gave myself: one month. Give yourself one month to confront the darkness, to explore your depths, to search for the light you think has been lost. It won’t be easy. You’ll have to face the shadows you’ve buried and the lies you’ve told yourself. But in doing so, you might just find what I did—that the power to change your life has always been within you. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll discover that you are more than the sum of your struggles. That you are connected, infinite, and capable of becoming everything you were meant to be.

Because you, too, are I AM.
